Low Hazard (occupant load >300)

Where the building or part thereof is used for assembling, fabricating, manufacturing, processing, repairing or storing of goods and materials and has an occupancy of over 300 persons.

In a low hazard industrial occupancy the combustible content cannot exceed more than 50 kg/m2 or 1200 MJ/m2 of floor area.

Medium Hazard (occupant load >100)

Where the building or part thereof is used for assembling, fabricating, manufacturing, processing, repairing or storing of goods and materials and has an occupancy of over 100 persons.

In a medium hazard industrial occupancy the combustible content is more than 50 kg/m2 or 1200 MJ/m2 of floor area and not classified as a high hazard industrial occupancy.

High Hazard (occupant load>25)

Where the building or part thereof is used for assembling, fabricating, manufacturing, processing, repairing or storing of goods and materials and has an occupancy of over 25 persons.

A high hazard industrial occupancy means an industrial occupancy that contains sufficient quantities of highly combustible and flammable or explosive materials that, because of their inherent characteristics, constitute a special fire hazard.

Outside Tire Storage Yard (bulk volume >300 m2)

Where an outside tire storage yard is storing a bulk volume of tires greater than 300 m2.
